Matt, Our Manager

I'd like to introduce you to Matt, our wonderful, relatively-new manager.

Matt began working at Brother Andre's in early February because of interesting, post-Basketball Game discussions with Dan Gallagher. It seems that, after their weekly game, Matt and Dan would talk about running a cafe. Matt was working with Saxby's. (Saxby's is an organization that partners with colleges in creating a business model cafe that becomes an Experiential Learning Program- where students earn academic credit in managing all aspects of the cafe. Sounds amazing - right?) Their shared interest led to Matt's appreciation of the Brother Andre's mission and a job offer. The rest, as they say, is history!  (To be honest, during these chats, Matt and Dan admit they also talked A LOT about Basketball.)

Happily, Matt was ready for a new adventure, and Brother Andre's was the perfect opportunity! He loves being part of our wonderful organization. Since he's been here, Matt has made lots of solid changes. For example, the kitchen and the coffee-prep area have become much more structured, the seasonal drinks are unique and advertised, and each employee has a cubicle in the office for their stuff and for communications. (This is my favorite change since I'm constantly losing my things.)

BUT, I bet the most significant event in Matt's life this year is the birth of his first child -a baby boy- on June 28th!  Eight pounds plus Thomas Joseph and his Mom, Helene, are great. Everyone is excited ands a lovingly-prepared Nursery awaits him!  This new baby's grandparents live in Chicago and his uncle, Matt's brother, lives in Texas. Imagine how joyous that get-together will be!

The new Dad has a lot of hobbies- we already know about basketball. He also enjoys board games; his current favorite is 'Isle of Cats'. In the game, magic cats must be saved. I've never heard of that game, but it sounds right up my alley-silly!

He also loves cooking out and making delicious food. I think Summer is the perfect time to combine that cooking and delicious prep. I wonder if Matt can make hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon, and pasta salad even more deliciious. If he wants to try, I'll be happy to sample his experiments.

Matt also said that next to the wonderful employees, he really does enjoy working with coffee. He believes that its scent and flavor can create a good mood. Although he likes exploring the different tastes, he always appreciates Chocolate Frappe! How about that?!

Matt's idea of a great superpower would be being SUPER athletic. Can you imagine Matt able to jump as high as the sky and run as fast as the wind? Now, that would be amazing (and fun) to see!

Matt is doing a magnificent job here at Brother Andre's, we can't wait to see what the future holds. Thank you for all that you do, Matt.
