Meet Andrew of Brother Andre's Epiphany

I'd like to introduce Andrew to you. He is a recent hire here at BA's Epiphany. Andrew discovered us a few years ago, when his mom (a retired pre-school teacher) and Christine Gallagher (Dan's wife) volunteered in the same Catechesis of The Good Shepherd toddler class. And here we are!

Andrew is a really hard worker; I've witnessed it first-hand. I have the pleasure of working with him on Mondays. He helps in the kitchen, is a barista, and seems to do it all. BA's isn't Andrew's only job; he's been employed at Whole Foods for 25 years- since he was 14! It seems he's always been a good worker.

Andrew and I have something in common, we both went to City Connections. For those who don't know, City Connections is a community-based program for 18-21 year olds with disabilities. The program's focus is skills-based, and students experience many practical opportunities in and out of the learning environment. Andrew graduated in 2008.

Going to the library and taking a nice long walk are some of Andrew's ideas of a great day. Andrew also has a podcast-habit. I can picture him walking down the street on a beautiful day, headphones in, absorbed in a podcast. Lately, Andrew has been into a Harry Potter podcast. I asked him if he had ever been to Universal Studios- of course, the answer was yes! I've been to Universal but I've never visited Harry Potter World. Maybe one day I can visit again to take it all in.

Andrew easily responded to my question about 'favorite places to visit'. He likes Gettysburg and is fascinated by its history. I have to say that my ideas about the Civil War were seriously affected by my visit there. However, visiting Ireland remains supreme on Andrew's Bucket List. This figures because Andrew loves music and one of his MOST favorite groups is Gaelic Storm. (Sounds Irish to me.) Another musician high on Andrew's list is Lindsey Stirling - a violinist. And, most interestingly, Andrew plays the violin!! This is an unique activity that I would love Andrew to share. (Andrew also loved Dan Gallagher's Dad's Band.)

Sometimes Andrew does fit in TV where he particularly likes historical dramas, science fiction, and documentaries. I bet learning is one of Andrew's strong suits!

Andrew is such a hard worker, who gives lots of time, energy, and thought to our mission and we couldn't be more thankful to have him. Next time you see him, make sure you say 'HI', and strike up a conversation! You will see how awesome he is! We love you, Andrew!
