Derek

I'd like to introduce you to Derek, an Assumption team member. Derek discovered Brother Andre's work through a friend at his church, Immaculate Heart of Mary. BA info is everywhere!

Derek loves being a barista. He insists that he enjoys making EVERY drink! I can't imagine how he learned about each ingredient. I guess you could go to Assumption and witness Derek's fine drink-making skills. Derek also appreciates the comradery at the Cafe. I totally agree; the friendships I made here are so special! I'm so glad he feels like he belongs.

Gateway High School, and then, Forbes Road East are Derek's educational background. Forbes Road East is a vocational school where he studied materials managing.

Derek has had a lot of jobs, including at Toys R Us, Giant Eagle, and KFC. But, perhaps the best job he has ever had is our Cafe. (Disclaimer: Derek didn't actually say that, but I think it's fair to assume.)

When Derek isn't working, he enjoys some regular activities, such as watching movies and some TV. He loves the whole Star Wars movie series. (I agree that Star Wars is a definite classic.) As far as TV shows are concerned, Derek enjoys Perry Mason. I have NEVER heard of that show. But, something I really like about writing this Blog is finding out about what everyone likes and learning all kinds of new things.

Derek always was, and still is, an active part of his community. He used to play Baseball at Gateway, and he still loves the MLB. The part of the game Derek likes to discuss is the pitching. When I interviewed him, he was very happy to talk about all the Pirates' pitchers. Derek also enjoys bowling; he bowls every Thursday night with a Men's Fellowship Group. Sounds like a fun group - bet Derek is a pretty good Bowler!

Derek is the youngest of eight. I got to meet one of his sisters, and she was very nice. Although Derek's parents have passed away, I'm sure they were amazing and would be very proud of him. I bet they are looking down on him from Heaven.

Derek is a wonderful team member and we are so thankful to have him as part of our BA group! I hope you get to meet him someday.

Peace.  See ya' when the next Blog comes out.
